Grief in Wichita: Covering Each Other in Prayer and Presence

Lately, I’ve been carrying a heavy heart—and I know I’m not the only one. Wichita is hurting.
So many families are grieving. There’s been so much loss, so much pain. And it’s not just one person or one moment—it’s been wave after wave of things that have shaken us to our core. If you’ve been feeling the weight of it all, just know you are not alone.
Over the last several weeks, I’ve sat in rooms where loss was thick in the air. I’ve watched people search for peace in the middle of heartbreak. I’ve listened to young people trying to make sense of things they shouldn’t have to experience. And what I’ve seen through it all is this: we need each other.
We don’t get through this season by pushing through in silence. We get through it by leaning in—checking on one another, speaking life, and finding strength in the simple act of showing up.
And in all of this, we have to remember: God is still in control. Even when we can’t see how, even when we’re exhausted, He’s still working. That truth doesn’t take away the pain, but it does give us a reason to keep moving forward.
This is a moment to reset, to ground ourselves in love and grace. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, coach, business owner, or young person just trying to stay focused—you matter. Your presence matters. Your leadership matters.
Let’s be intentional. Let’s lead with compassion. Let’s lift each other up, not just in words, but in action. And let’s cover Wichita in prayer, in presence, and in purpose—because that’s how we heal!
